Your participation in events like these ensure we can continue to serve the most fragile in our communities and fight to stop the spread of domestic violence. All proceeds raised that evening help A Safe Place continue to provide lifesaving services for survivors and children of domestic violence.

Why do we need this funding?

Our services save lives. Last year:

We provided 7,233 nights of emergency shelter,
We answered 2,833 crisis line calls,
We educated 10,807 people about healthy relationships and domestic violence,
We served 3,001 orders of protection,
And, 94% of the women we sheltered DID NOT return to their abuser
But:
Over 500 individuals were turned away last year due to lack of funding
And services are decreasing due to reduced and stagnant funding

As the leading advocate for eliminating domestic violence in northern Illinois, A Safe Place provides emergency shelter, affordable housing, court advocacy, and individual and group supportive services to survivors of domestic violence and their children; educational programs for the community; and intervention services for abusers to learn accountability for their choices and actions. Last year, A Safe Place served more than 13,000 adults and children in the Chicagoland area and Wisconsin.

Because of current state budget cuts and pending federal budget cuts, support for A Safe Place from the community is critical and more important than ever before. A Safe Place is the only provider in Lake County solely dedicated to domestic violence. Serving individuals from the North Shore, Northern Illinois, Chicago, Wisconsin, and beyond, we offer lifesaving programs, arrange for safe living spaces, and help families transform their lives after domestic violence. Events like these ensure that we can continue to provide for those most fragile in our communities.
