Enjoy a beautiful August day at Briarwood, a private country club on the North Shore, while helping to drive out domestic violence in Chicago and the Chicagoland area.

Last year, we had a fantastic day of golf, on-course activities, awards, raffle prizes, drinks, dinner and a spirited live auction by Keith Jones from Sayre & Jones Auctioneers Ltd. At the end of the day, after lots of good times, we raised over $73,000 for victims of domestic violence.

Why?

Domestic violence is in your community.

1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will experience domestic violence in their lifetime, that is 117,500 women and 87,000 men in Lake County alone. 1 in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence each year, that is 60,700 children in Lake County.

All money raised at the 17th Annual Drive Out Domestic Violence Golf Outing helps A Safe Place continue to provide a full range of services to families suffering from domestic violence and promote awareness of the impact and consequences of violence in our communities.

A Safe Place is the sole provider of services in Lake County exclusively focusing on domestic violence victims. Our programs and services transform and save lives every day. They include emergency shelter, permanent housing, scattered homes, a 24-hour crisis line (847-249-4450), court and non-legal advocacy, individual and children’s therapy, support groups, art therapy, family visitation services, monitored custody exchanges, abuser intervention services, prevention education in the middle and high schools, and professional and community training.

Each year, A Safe Place impacts over 15,000 lives. Lives that seek out safety in our emergency shelter, join a support group and learn about self-care, visit with their children in a monitored environment, seek out orders of protection in court, or learn about healthy relationships. Through our programs and services, we walk hand-in-hand with victims on every step of their healing
journey. And, as a result, 94% of the clients that leave our emergency shelter do not return to their abuser.

We hope that you will join us this year for our exciting 17th annual golf outing on a warm, sunny day in August with tasty food, delicious drinks, and fun friends. Your participation as a sponsor, a golfer, a donor, a dinner guest, or all four helps to increase awareness of the epidemic that is domestic violence and raise much needed funds for the essential programs and services that A Safe Place provides.

As the leading advocate for eliminating domestic violence in northern Illinois, A Safe Place provides emergency shelter, affordable housing, court advocacy, and individual and group supportive services to survivors of domestic violence and their children; educational programs for the community; and intervention services for abusers to learn accountability for their choices and actions. Last year, A Safe Place served more than 14,000 adults and children in the Chicagoland area and Wisconsin.

A Safe Place is the only provider in Lake County solely dedicated to domestic violence. Serving individuals from the North Shore, Northern Illinois, Chicago, Wisconsin, and beyond, we offer lifesaving programs, arrange for safe living spaces, and help families transform their lives after domestic violence. Events like these ensure that we can continue to provide for those most fragile in our communities.
